Use a Sugargoo spreadsheet to keep your UK buying decisions, postage estimates and GBP payments in one auditable record. Set the destination before comparing postage

Record whether the parcel is going to Great Britain or Northern Ireland, then use the correct destination in the current estimator. A route screenshot for another destination is not a quote for your address. Save the route name, date, packed weight and dimensions, included services and restrictions before deciding.

Keep a GBP ledger alongside CNY prices

Record the seller’s CNY price, domestic delivery charge, your GBP payment, exchange date and any payment fee. Keep estimated international postage apart from postage actually paid. If your card statement differs from the displayed conversion, use the statement for the paid-cost field and retain the estimate for comparison.

Check measurements and the QC decision

Record the selected variant and any seller measurements before purchase. When warehouse photos are available, compare the actual item with the ordered size, colour and quantity. Ask for the measurement that resolves your uncertainty, then log an accept or return decision with its date. An English size name alone is not a fit guarantee.

Separate VAT, duty and carrier handling

GOV.UK distinguishes the rules for Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Check the current guidance for goods sent from abroad and keep VAT, Customs Duty and the carrier’s handling fee as distinct entries. Do not assume that a route name establishes your tax treatment. Retain the declaration, invoice and any assessment notice.

Use a quote comparison that reveals missing costs

Create one row per available route: destination, quote date, parcel measurements, estimated postage in its quoted currency, included services, exclusions and known handling charges. Convert to GBP with a recorded rate and date. A cheaper headline quote is not a complete comparison when one route’s extras are still Unknown.
